Hi there!
Nice to "meet" you. You can call me V.
A little about my start:
Ever heard the Creedence Clearwater Revival lyric, "Stuck in Lodi again?" Well, that's where I grew up. A tiny town in Northern California where if you blinked, you'd miss it. There was a decent mix of farmers, gangsters, and retired blue hairs. And absolutely nothing to do. Needless to say, I needed a way to not perish from boredom. So to occupy my time, I made stuff. I grew up on a sewing machine, crochet needles, and embroidery hoops. When it was finally time for me to go to college, I tried majoring in business. After failing out of my accounting class multiple times, I realized this wasn't the right path. So I did what anyone would do, of course. Became a virtual car salesman? Luckily this adventure went under with the dot-com bust. But it also got me out of Lodi and to Miami. And this is where my career in advertising began.
Official long-winded, horn tootin' ad life bio:
Veronica Padilla is a self-taught maker with an extensive background in graphic design, illustration, product design, art direction, and styling. Her rich range of expertise has allowed her to approach design with a fresh and innovative perspective for a variety of high profile clients, from Google and Ben & Jerry's to Starbucks and the White House.
Veronica has worked in advertising and design for nearly twenty years. She started as a creative manager and recruiter reporting directly to advertising legend Alex Bogusky at Crispin Porter + Bogusky, one of the most creatively awarded and influential agencies of recent times. Inspired by the fantastic creative talent, and with Alex's support, Veronica crossed over to the other side and became a creative herself. After helping to set up the Art Department in the Boulder office, she designed props, sets, and costumes for an array of brands, including Coke Zero, Dominos, and Burger King, and managed to pick up some awards along the way. She even received CP+B's coveted "Agency Soul" award.
Next, she helped set up Crispin's Product Innovation Group. From concepting, prototyping, iterating, and sourcing all the way through to product and packaging design, Veronica helped bring numerous products to market, including one of the nation's first bike-share programs and Angel's Envy (which was recently acquired by Bacardi.)
Next, Veronica was hired by Mullen in Boston and became a Senior Art Director, working with brands such as Google, Zappos, and Jetblue. She also served as a creative consultant and designer for Lemon, a groundbreaking and award-winning art publication that recently earned a D&AD award, one of the toughest creative competitions in the world. And most recently, Veronica worked at Droga5 in New York, where her design eye helped win new business and elevate the quality of work there.
Veronica has since formed Tiny Movement, a niche design boutique that is focused on helping non-profits shine brighter. And she recently gave a talk at the United Nations about an initiative she founded called Gentle Mentals aimed at destigmatizing mental illness—which has won numerous awards and has been in over twenty film festivals around the world.
She was named Top 200 illustrators in Lurzer's Archive Magazine. And her work has been showcased by the top industry award shows and publications: Communication Arts, D&AD, Clio, Cannes, One Show, London International, Print, and more.
Still with me?
OK, then you should really just drop me a line. Let's make something!
Cheers!
